Lockdown

I said to the wife at the beginning of this Covid-19 pandemic that there would be a few people who would panic and clean out the shelves selfishly. Grabbing everything they could think of just because they can. I was not disappointed. I also had smile at their expense when the world didn’t end, the stores didn’t run dry, and they ended up throwing most of what they bought out in the trash. See, when you don’t plan ahead, it doesn’t matter how much you buy, it’s all going to go off and start rotting. You need to be sensible about things. For instance, what’s the point in buying a shed load of perishable goods if you don’t have the capacity to store it properly? At the end of the day, those people wasted an awful lot of money.

As for those who filled rooms with toilet roll. What was that all about? You scared that you might have to survive on curry for the duration or something? Seriously, some people are just plain crazy.

Well it looks like whether it’s for the greater good or not, the powers that be are going to be bringing us out of this enforced isolation. I say the PTB because it’s not the government who are going to be forcing the issue, it’s those with too much money – who of course want more – who are going to push the people back out. Can’t be a rich dude unless the coffers keep on filling. Right? I mean, a multi-million pound yacht must cost an awful lot in mooring fees and fuel, and damned if that’s coming out of their pockets.

As for that uttlerly ludicrous creature who, in her rose petal bath in the multi-million dollar mansion uttered what have to be the most ridiculous words ever to fall from the ass of a human. Being that this virus is “the great leveller”… Really? She’s sitting in her own mansion, surrounded by wealth, with private, expensive health care on tap and she thinks that makes her equal to ordinary folks? I’ve always said that these so-called stars are delusional, but that just about proves it. Not a functional neuron firing in that big old empty head.

Any one else out there sick to death of some rich twat telling you what to do? I know I am. Please, just STFU and leave us ordinary folks to our own devices. Nothing you have to say matters a damn anyway.

We here in my little corner of the world have fared through well. No signs of symptoms in any family member, which is quite the relief. My mother has had a hard time understanding some of the isolation rules, but with patience and regular explanation I think she finally got it. She does miss her coffee mornings with the neighbour though, but soon perhaps things can go back to normal. Or maybe I can fix something up in the back garden so they can have a coffee and a chat and still maintain their safety. I’ll look into that.

I would like to take a moment to thank all those who stayed at work to make life easier for people like me. Keeping the power on, the water flowing, the phone lines open. A big thanks to the Postman and the delivery drivers who kept at the yoke and did their jobs too. Their jobs are frequently rather thankless, but I for one am extremely grateful for their services. Of course, I guess the Police need a thanks as well, for at least chasing if not actually catching some of the yobbos out there trying to make people’s lives miserable, and of course, for attending to their other duties. The Fire Service on my rock has had quite a busy time with people setting fire to their or their neighbour’s houses with bonfires or explosive barbecues. Oh, and dealing with the random fires some idiots started in nature’s yard as well. Of course, there’s a thanks to the military for stepping up and showing that they are willing and able to do things aside from protecting our nation’s borders. Especially the Scots Borderers for fixing the mess that is the hospital on my rock and building the facilities it needed. Finally there’s a thanks also for the Health Service, all the staff who were on the front line looking after patients suffering from Covid19 infections and the other staff, who although not as busy as usual, still looked after the sick and injured when necessary. It will be big relief of course, when the hospitals and government realise that there are other people out there who are extremely ill, even mortally sick, who also need treatment and looking after. Perhaps that will come soon as well.

To any poor soul who stumbles across my random ramblings, you have my sympathy.

Unfortunately this nightmare isn’t over yet, and won’t be until they find an antidote. So remember, while the overly wealthy might like to have you back in the stores spending your money, you matter more than they do. Without you, they wouldn’t be wealthy.

Take care and keep safe.

The light at the end of the tunnel, is not an oncoming express.

About Questor

Yeah, I could waffle on about nothing at all here and tell you a bunch of stuff about myself, but why bore you all? I am who I am, I write as I talk as I think. Take me as I am, or don't. It's all fine. Basically, I old enough to know better, and young enough not to give a damn. Happily married, with children (almost grown now) and doing well for themselves. Policy in life? Take what fun you can, help others when you can, it all ends too quickly, and sometimes when you least expect it.
