I confess I am finding the hostility towards various governments somewhat entertaining. To be fair the government doesn’t really know much more about this Covid19 mess than we do – well, okay maybe a bit more. But seriously, there are “experts” advising them, although these experts aren’t really experts on Covid19, they’re scientists who are trying to play a logic guessing game. Aside from previous epidemics (which seem to have been ignored) outbreaks in other areas of the world (also apparently ignored) this whole Covid19 thing is pretty much new territory. We are all, and I include the politicians in that, learning as we go.
So the British government’s message is confusing, a tad mixed up, somewhat unclear… Well, that’s not really so surprising is it. They don’t have much more of a clue about what to do than the rest of us. Of course, it would be nice if people could use some common sense in regards to everyday life. I don’t mean locking yourselves down in a bunker and waiting it out, but some common sense in general. This virus is highly communicable. Which essentially means it transmits between people with the greatest of ease. Some people are affected more severely than others. No, being young and relative fit does not mean you are invulnerable or immortal. Several of my daughter’s friends made that mistake and at least two ended up in intensive care – and they are below the age of thirty, healthy and fit. So come on, give the government a hand while they try to figure out how to beat this damn thing. Use some common sense in regards to yourselves and other people. Don’t barge through, don’t crowd people, and for fucks sake don’t start acting like thick-headed arseholes in the supermarkets. Ye gods, what does it take for some people to grow a clue?
Are functional brain cells really that scarce?
I am not apologising for the government’s mixed messages, just pointing out that it’s all pretty new to them as well. And as for the talking head experts, well, that’s all they are. Talking heads. These people are – mostly – taking educated guesses based on available information and data, with a small dose of common sense.
The economy is causing panic amongst business owners, politicians and especially the overly wealthy. Understandably so, lockdown hasn’t just been for us citizens. Lockdown has caused the greatest drop in retail – well, ever. To get out of this mess is going to take time, care, thoughtfulness and consideration for others. So, instead of cursing the government for not spelling it out clearly in ABC language, try using a little bit of common sense. Think about your family and other people, and act accordingly.
The Covid19 virus has not gone away just because most of us stayed at home. It’s out there, it’s waiting for us of you will, like a little terrorist in ambush. Start acting like muppets and not taking basic precautions and we’re all going to be back in lockdown again, except the next time it will be worse. Let’s not cause further aggravation in this pandemic by being a bunch of brainless twonks. Think about what you’re doing, think about your family, take care, take precautions. Be safe.
Ye gods, it’s not rocket science.
